Privacy
Buba's Number Road and Buba's Reading Road keep a child's progress on the device they play on, and nowhere else. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking.
What is kept, and where
For each player: the name and animal picture you choose, their stars and levels, which skills or sounds they got right and wrong, and their settings. On the device itself: whether sound is muted and how fast Buba speaks.
All of it is kept in this browser's own storage on this device. It is never sent anywhere: there is no server that receives it and no account it belongs to. A first name or a nickname is plenty for a player's name.
What the games never do
- No ads, and no analytics or tracking code.
- The games set no cookies.
- Nothing loaded from anyone else: the fonts, pictures and recordings come with the game, and once it has opened over the internet it can run without it.
The voice
Some of what Buba says is recorded and comes with the game. The rest is spoken by the device's own built-in voice, and the games choose a voice that runs on the device. A browser that has no voice of its own may use its maker's online voice for those lines instead. They are the game's own words, such as a word for a child to read, and, once, the name of the first player added when Buba welcomes them.
Hosting
The games are served by Cloudflare. As with any website, your browser's requests for the game's files reach Cloudflare, including your IP address. Cloudflare gives the site's owner overall numbers, such as how many requests were served in a day. Those numbers say nothing about a child or about anything done in a game.
Backups
"Save a backup" in the grown-up settings makes a file on your device holding every player's progress. It goes only where you put it. "Restore" reads one back in.
Deleting it
In the grown-up settings you can delete a player, and all their progress with them. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes everything.
